THE CONVENTION

Marat was assassinated by Charlotte Corday on July 13, 1793. The end of the government of the Girondins on May 31 and June 2 brought their trial and execution on October 31. This is the beginning of the federalist movement in the provinces. Marseilles is taken on August 25 and Lyons on October 17.
