Ce type avec une représentation allégorique du Pyramos est intéressante et particulièrement bien venue à la frappe sur cet exemplaire.

CILICIA - HIERAPOLIS-CASTABALA
(2nd-1st century BC)
Hierapolis, located on Pyramos to the east of Anazarbos, does not seem known before the reign of Antiochus IV. It became at the end of the 1st century BC the capital of the kings of Cilicia under Tarkondimotos I (39-31 AC.), then Philopator. On the death of the latter under Tiberius around 17, the kingdom was attached to Rome. An imperial workshop operated there between the reigns of Antoninus Pius and Gallien.
