Историческая справка

CILICIA - KINGDOM OF ARMENIA - HETHUM I

1226-1270

On the death of Levon II in 1219, he left as heir only his daughter Zabel, then three years old. Then opens a period of conflict in the succession to power. In 1226, Zabel (Isabelle) marries Héthoum Ier, and thus opens a long reign which will last until 1270. Although in 1252 Zabel dies, the silver coins (trams and half-trams) will show the two sovereigns together until the death of Hethoum I. The reign of Hethum I is distinguished by three main chronological parts. The first where Hethum I and Zabel govern together, the period where Armenia is under the domination of the Sultan of Konieh, and finally, where Hethum I governs alone until his death (1244-1270).
