Exemplaire de qualité pour ce type rarissime et toujours fruste. Patine brune, homogène et brillante sur un flan épais et légèrement scyphate

Комментарий
Monnaie d’un type exceptionnel, avec un très beau revers. Ce type précis correspond au DT. 3241 (n° 436 du Musée de Lyon) et au n° IV de la planche du Trésor de Siaugues-Saint-Romain par Changarnier, à la nuance près que notre exemplaire présente deux petites rouelles au-dessus du cheval, contre une seule sur le n° IV.
Simone Scheers ne recense que 2 exemplaires ; le n° 768 (= Z. 487) et le n° 769 (= BN. 4061).
Ce monnayage a été récemment réétudié par K. Gruel, lors de la parution des Mélange offerts à S. Scheers.

This so-called Siaugues-Saint-Romain series is more complex than it appears and it is difficult to present an exhaustive study of it due to the advanced state of corrosion of most of the known examples. A concentration of these coins can be observed in lower Allier, around Vichy (...). The geographical distribution of the coins makes them a local coinage. It could correspond to a coinage of pagus, whose territory would extend into the protruding space described by the Arverne city in the Allier valley, north of a Mariol-Bègues line. K. Gruel and D.
