Ce petit denier est frappé sur un flan large et régulier. Exemplaire décentré au revers, sur lequel la croix du revers apparaît en négatif au droit. Exemplaire recouvert d’une patine grise

FLANDERS - TOWN OF YPRES
(12th-13th centuries)
The manufacture of small denarii was very important between the second half of the 12th century and the first years of the 14th century. We find at the start small denarii for the Count of Flanders, Philippe d'Alsace (1161-1186); the last to have minted small deniers seems to be Philippe de Marigny (1306-1309). Many cities in the north minted this type of coin.
