He was born in 1609 from the union of François, Count of Aubusson and Elisabeth Brachet de Pérusse. He was Archbishop of Embrun from 1649 to 1668. In 1669, he became the 91st Bishop of Metz, retaining his rank of Archbishop for life. He became senile three to four years before his death on May 12, 1697.
