Историческая справка

ITALY - VENICE - ANDREA DANDOLO (54th doge)

(1343-1354)

Andrea Dandolo belongs to a large family, and his ancestor Jean created the sequin in 1284. The name of this coin comes from the name of the tower that can still be seen today in Piazza San Marco and where were struck the first parts. Andréa Dandolo had to fight against the Genoese and the Turks (1343-1346), put an end to the revolt of Zara in Dalmatia and was the friend of Petrarch.
